Welcome to Hotel Ildefonso, an envisage of professional Architect, Manuel Ildefonso Dias. Manuel possessed a profound appreciation for luxury and until his passing in 2018, he did not let cancer slow him down. In fact, he scrupulously managed and directed the construction of his hotel until it was very near completion. Unfortunately, he was unable to witness Hotel Ildefonso blossom into the fine hideaway it is today.
Manuel was quite the renaissance man, beginning early on as an automotive mechanic at the age of 16. He had an appetite for drawing and began a professional career in architecture at the age of 25. He is described by his family as a man who “loved drawing his own building plans and who was not afraid of anything.” Along with a passion for fast cars and luxury, he also enjoyed working as a seasonal lifeguard and Latino dance teacher during his spare time and was a successful male model.
His blueprint for Hotel Ildefonso began with the land of his forefathers, the earth that rests beneath this hotel. It was his attention to detail, utilizing the most lavish of construction materials, that has accentuated his vision to its absolute fullest. It is a testament to Manuel’s intuition and foresight and stands as a magnificent vision fulfilled. The serenity of Hotel Ildefonso, although without its prophetic custodian, satisfies the most opulent desires of the most discreet and affluent travelers. Manuel is survived by his parents Isabel and Miguel, his sister Martina and brother Frank. He was born in Germany on November 11, 1972 and passed away while vacationing in Marbella, Spain, on August 22, 2018. Mr. Manuel Ildefonso Dias is laid to rest in Mondim da Beira, Portugal, near his family.
